Super-bugs Strike The Body!
By Malcolm E Baker

In the November 2004 booklet we considered the impact of super-bugs in our hospitals. At the beginning of 2005 we want to look at the super-bugs that are striking the Church and robbing the Body of life and energy.

Much today in the realm of worship and spiritual warfare takes the believer away from dependency upon God to an understanding that most all depends upon him or her to bring victory into a situation. Prayer marches take up vast amounts of time and energy and achieve little if anything at all. “Pulling down Satan’s strongholds” is the mantra of the day, with songs and choruses all about “us” with almost no reference to God. We can get the victory, we can bring in the Kingdom, we can tell the devil what to do and where to go, displaying arrogance and causing concern for those who truly want to see the Name of Jesus glorified. Satan is having a field day in the Church with a super-bug demonic attack in all areas of church life and ministry, with an attack on the Body that is eating away the meat leaving only skin and bone, with energy sapped and a lifeless shape that is hardly recognisable as being the Body of Christ. It is not only churches that are suffering from the super-bugs but para-church organisations too. Someone in ministry commented to me – “Sadly the longer I am rubbing shoulders with big ministries the more disgusted I am.” Is it possible that there sometimes can be a festering and rottenness at the core of ministry that is not being dealt with? That it is being hidden and ignored, and that there will be a breakout of disease and chaos as the Lord reveals what is hidden?

We in the West are coming close to persecution, indeed some are already experiencing persecution. A cleaning-up operation is on the way. It will not be pleasant; it will be drastic and painful.

We have called for believers to return to the Bible, to read and study Scripture, and we have put on monthly bible studies to help supplement and provide opportunity to get together from many different church backgrounds, and to see what the bible says and teaches. We are making a further call for believers to return to their God, the God of the Bible. He is the Victor, He is the Deliverer, He is the Lord and Saviour and it is Him that we are dependant upon and to Him we look for everything.

In returning to the Lord our God we further call on the Church to return to the purposes of God and in particular to take the Gospel into all the world. We can come up with all the spiritual warfare tactics that are getting us nowhere but they are wasting time and resources. We need to get out and get on with the job! Jesus never spoke about having prayer marches, He never spoke about having great worship meetings – meetings that have turned more into freak shows with little to do with God and more to do with the people leading. The call is to preach the Gospel into all the world and to make disciples of all nations. We need men and women, young and old to return to the biblical injunction to preach the Gospel, to share the Gospel in our neighbourhoods and workplaces; to gossip the Gospel.

Christians have been drawn away from the teachings of Scripture by doctrines of demons, doctrines of Dominion Theology, Replacement Theology, Prosperity Theology and the like. Homosexuality and sex outside of marriage, all these perversions are preached as truth in today’s church. Vain deceptions that lead us nowhere but away from the Living God and His Word; leading people Jesus died for into the very pit of Hell itself. The time for playing Christianity has gone. It is time for reality Christianity. It is time to serve the Lord and not our vanity.

If we are to see victory, if we are to return to the Lord and serve Him alone we can only do this by returning to biblical ways and means, not by fancy spiritual warfare and not by accepting false teaching. We do it by repenting of our dead works not by continuing in them. We do it by looking to the Author and Finisher of our faith and not to ourselves.

We are calling believers everywhere to minister to the Lord through prayer and fasting, by doing this alone in their own homes, and corporately coming together to seek His face; to draw near to the Father through Jesus the Son by the Holy Spirit. We encourage ministers and leaders to open themselves up to God to let Him search their hearts and minds and that of their ministries and to root out all that is not of Him. Invite Him to expose what our true motives are in what we are doing. Invite Him to come in and with the cleaning power of the Blood of Jesus to clean out the super-bugs and all that is false and demonic, all that has crept into the Church and Christian ministries.

Trouble and woe is coming on the world that is not the result of the Church failing but is the result of the wickedness of man and the workings of Satan. God is judging the earth and will work out His purposes. Jesus told us what to expect in Matthew’s Gospel, and He said when we see all these things happening that we should look up, for our redemption is near. Let’s set our compasses to face upward and work and head towards His coming. This is the greatest adventure of all time! Source: Pointers Magazine January 2005
